We are working with a fantastic school in the Redbridge area to support students with PMLD and complex needs. In this role, you will be working alongside various professionals in a bespoke building with a range of sensory rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and therapists. In this role, you will be supporting students with various activities which promote mobility and sensory needs.
SEN Teaching Assistant main responsibilities:
Providing support to students with Autism/ASC, complex needs, severe learning difficulties, profound multiple learning difficulties, and medical needs, in their academic and personal development
Assisting students with limited mobility, including those who use wheelchairs, in accessing the school environment and participating in classroom activities
Collaborating with teachers and other staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
Implementing personalised curriculum and behaviour management strategies for students
Supporting students in developing their communication, social, and life skills
Assisting with personal care tasks, including feeding, toileting, and medication administration as required
Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant:
Ideally have experience working with children and young people with Autism/ASC and complex needs, preferably in an educational or care setting
Ideally have knowledge and experience in supporting students with physical disabilities and mobility issues, including wheelchair users
May have worked as a care worker or care assistant
May have relevant qualifications and/or degrees such as Health and Social Care, Psychology, Criminology, or Nursing

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents

You will work with the school's multidisciplinary therapy team, helping students find ways to do the things they need and want to do. These opportunities will suit teachers who have a passion and natural ability to engage hard to reach pupils and those with strong classroom presence. You will engage the children and young people within the school in innovative, therapeutic, and meaningful activities, supporting them in learning to help them reach their full potential.
Requirements for Nurture Teacher:
To work as a Nurture Teacher, you will ideally hold QTS or QTLS or have relevant experience as a Teacher. Solid experience working with highly vulnerable children, pupils at risk of exploitation, gang-related issues, violent and aggressive behaviour, substance misuse, school phobic, highly disengaged pupils and anxiety disorders is beneficial but we want to hear from ALL teachers.
