About the Role

Location: Havering
Pay: £85 to £90 per day (PAYE)
Full time | Temp to perm | Start date: ASAP

"The best way to reach a child is to meet them exactly where they are, without asking them to change first."

In a vibrant primary school in the heart of Havering, there is a carefully designed space dedicated to children with Autism Spectrum Condition. It is known as an Autism Resource Provision, but to the children and the team who support them, it feels more like a second home than a classroom.

This is not a mainstream setting with one or two pupils receiving extra help. It is a dedicated provision where children with autism can thrive in a structured, sensory aware, and emotionally safe environment. The staff here do not rush progress. They celebrate small wins, notice the details, and support every child as an individual.

We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant who is ready to be part of something meaningful. Someone who can offer consistency, warmth and real understanding. You will be working with a team of passionate professionals who truly value what you bring, even if you are still learning the ropes.

What your day may look like

  • Supporting pupils aged 4 to 11 in a small, calm classroom setting

  • Helping children communicate in a way that works for them using visuals, objects of reference, or assistive tools

  • Creating a sense of emotional safety through routine, predictability, and encouragement

  • Supporting with transitions between activities and spaces, both in the provision and across the wider school

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to build trust and consistency

This role could be perfect for you if

  • You have supported children or young people with autism in any setting, including care, family, youth work, or education

  • You are curious, patient and ready to learn

  • You are comfortable with emotional and behavioural needs and understand that every behaviour has a reason

  • You are looking for a role that gives you a sense of purpose at the end of the day

You do not need to have school-based experience to apply. What matters most is your attitude, your compassion and your commitment to showing up each day with care.

Why this school stands out

  • A purpose built Autism Resource Provision with sensory rooms and tailored support areas

  • A genuinely kind and collaborative team who support one another

  • A school leadership team that invests in staff wellbeing and professional growth

  • Opportunities to move into teacher training and other specialist pathways in SEND

Why work with Parker Smith Inclusion

At Parker Smith Inclusion, we are more than just recruiters. We are advocates for inclusive education and people who truly care about the impact of the roles we help to fill.

You can expect:

  • A personal approach and honest guidance throughout your journey

  • Access to SEND specialist roles that are not widely advertised

  • A transparent PAYE payroll system with no umbrella companies or hidden deductions

  • Ongoing support from professionals who understand the sector and your needs

If this sounds like the kind of place you would like to be part of, or if you are curious to explore other SEND opportunities, get in touch.
