About the Role

ASC Learning Support Assistant – Secondary
Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm | Barking and Dagenham
Start Date: Immediate
Pay: £90 per day (PAYE)

Be the Person Who Helps Every Pupil Thrive

For some young people, school can feel confusing, overwhelming, or even unsafe. They may struggle to connect, communicate, or engage. But with the right support, every young person can feel understood and confident. That’s where you come in.

A School Where Every Interaction Counts

This fantastic secondary school in Barking and Dagenham specialises in supporting children and young people with ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition). Here, learning is personalised, structured, and meaningful, with a focus on strengths rather than challenges.

Class sizes are small, giving you the chance to make a real difference. Working alongside experienced teachers and therapists, you’ll help pupils build confidence, develop independence, and reconnect with learning—sometimes for the very first time.

What You Can Expect:

  • A calm, structured environment designed for success for both pupils and staff

  • Opportunities to work closely with therapists, SENCOs, and a dedicated leadership team

  • Meaningful, day-to-day progress for pupils, from engaging in lessons to developing key life skills

  • A supportive, collaborative team who value your contribution and ideas

Who You Are:
You may already have experience supporting children or young people with ASC or other SEND, or you could come from a care, pastoral, or youth work background. Most importantly, you are patient, resilient, compassionate, and committed to helping every pupil feel safe and valued.

If you’re curious, enthusiastic, and ready to learn, the school will provide the training, mentoring, and support you need to make an immediate impact.

Your Impact Will Last a Lifetime

This role isn’t just a job, it’s an opportunity to change lives. From helping a pupil communicate their first words to supporting them in managing their emotions, every day is rewarding.
