Help Children with Complex Needs Flourish in a Supportive Environment

A caring and inclusive primary school in Havering is looking for a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join their Autism Resource Provision. This specialist setting, based within the mainstream school, provides a calm, predictable environment where pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition can learn in a way that suits their individual needs.

Every pupil’s journey is different, and the team celebrates progress in all its forms, from improved communication to increased independence.

The Role

  • Supporting children aged 4 to 11 in a small, structured provision

  • Using visual resources, communication tools, and practical strategies to aid understanding

  • Reinforcing routines and clear expectations to help pupils feel secure

  • Assisting children as they transition between activities and school spaces

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and families to provide consistent care and support

About You

  • Experience with autism or SEND is useful but not essential

  • Backgrounds in care, youth work, early years, or community support are highly valued

  • Calm, patient, and reflective, with a focus on understanding behaviour

  • Comfortable supporting pupils in a routine-based, structured environment

  • Reliable, compassionate, and keen to develop your skills further
