About the Role

Autism Support Assistant

Are you passionate about supporting Autistic children with their learning and communication needs?

Do you have a sound knowledge and experience of Makaton?

Are you keen to further your skills in a dedicated provision for Complex Autism and SLCN (Speech, Language and Communication Needs)?

I am actively seeking an engaging Autism Support Assistant with Makaton Knowledge for a specialist Nurture provision for ASD in a Therapeutic school in Thurrock.

 

About the Nurture Provision 

The nurture provision is based in a primary school in Thurrock who are incredibly passionate and dedicated to ensuring the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children with ASD, SCLN, and SEMH.

This is a new provision for the school and they are keen to staff the nurture hub with committed staff with specific skills. They are offering a permanent contract for a dedicated and passionate Autism Support Assistant who has experience/training in Makaton as they will be expecting a higher intake of students with SLCN, complex ASD, and non-verbal children.

 

What you can expect as an Autism Support Assistant

  • Experience of working in an inclusive SEND setting with a specialist Nurture Hub for complex ASD
  • To be part of a fantastic SEND specialist staff team in a therapeutic school setting
  • Receive weekly CPD and specialist SEND training, specific to the needs you support
  • Excellent experience and training for aspiring teachers, SEN teachers, Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, and Speech and language Therapists

 

Autism Support Assistant requirements:

  • Makaton experience, use to a confident level
  • Experience working with ASD and SLCN including children who are non-verbal
  • Passionate about inclusion

Although experience supporting children with ASD and SLCN is certainly beneficial, I would also love to hear from individuals who have a knowledge of Makaton and are looking to take their first step into education settings.... so please get in touch!
