Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Secondary Special School

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a remarkable secondary special school that caters to students with a wide range of needs, including Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), sensory processing challenges, and mobility difficulties. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join the team on a full-time, long-term basis.

The Role:

As a Complex Needs TA, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to access learning and develop life skills in a safe, nurturing environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students with personal care needs (toileting, hygiene, etc.)

  • Assisting with moving and handling in line with individual care plans

  • Supporting sensory regulation and communication needs

  • Collaborating with teachers and therapists to implement tailored strategies

  • Promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, and engagement

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for individuals with:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with Autism, SLD, PMLD, or complex physical and sensory needs

  • An understanding of communication tools such as Makaton or PECS

  • Confidence with personal care and manual handling

  • First Aid training is highly desirable

  • A caring, resilient, and team-oriented attitude
