About the Role

Role: Job Coach & Travel Trainer 

School: SEND Post 16 

Location: Enfield 

Are you passionate about supporting young people with complex needs to achieve independence and prepare for adult life? 

We are working with a school based in Enfield that caters to students 16 - 25 years with SEND, which includes ASC, ADHD, learning difficulties, and speech and language and communication needs.  The school are looking for passionate Job Coaches & Travel Trainers to join their ethical team. Part of the role as a Job Coach will involve supporting the students with their work experience placements and giving guidance, support and advice for their job placements. The other part of the role will be supporting students with independent travel. 

Key Responsibilities 

Independent Travel Trainer 

  • Deliver tailored travel training to students, ensuring they can navigate public transport safely and independently.
  • Monitor progress, complete checklists, and report updates to line managers, class teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare and implement risk assessments for travel training activities.

Job Coach 

  • Organise and coordinate meaningful external work experience opportunities that match students’ abilities and interests.
  • Consult with students to understand their skills, preferences, and support needs, adopting a person-centered approach.
  • Set up, support, and monitor students in work placements, providing on-the-job training, advice, and guidance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, negotiating roles that align with students’ skills while meeting business needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with young people with SEND, particularly in a post-16 setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments, safeguarding, and disability equality practices.
  • Confidence in delivering training, supporting students in the workplace, and promoting independence.
  • A proactive, empathetic, and adaptable approach to problem-solving.

About the School We are working closely with an SEMH school based in North London. This school is in a modern, purpose-built environment designed to support both staff and students. It caters to students from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4 with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and it supports every student through a trauma-informed approach. They are seeking an experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a children in Key Stage 3 in a 2:1 role. The student is on of the most challenging students in their secondary site, so it is important that the successful candidate has had experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs, this can be professional or personal experience. Learning Support Assistant Enfield Primary & Secondary September 2025 Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people with SEND? We are working with a SEN school that is based in Enfield and are looking for dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their welcoming team. The school caters to students aged from 3 – 19 years with a range of SEND. Key Responsibilities Learning Support Assistant Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum. Assist with the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher. Support students with personal care needs when necessary (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing). Use visual aids, Makaton, or other communication tools to support students with communication difficulties. Promote social interaction, independent learning, and self-esteem in all students. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress. Provide a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive emotionally and academically. Encourage positive behaviour through a consistent and caring approach, in line with the school's behaviour policy. Support with physical and sensory needs, including helping with the use of specialist equipment where required. Requirements Previous experience working in an SEN setting or with children with SEND. A genuine passion for supporting young people with special needs. Knowledge of conditions such as ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties. Ability to work well as part of a team, following guidance from teachers and other professionals. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different levels of understanding. Patience, empathy, and a calm approach in challenging situations. Willingness to undertake training in areas such as Makaton, PECS, or behaviour management strategies (training can be provided).
