About the Role
SEN Teacher
Special School for Pupils with Complex Needs and PMLD
MPS–UPS | Full Time | Permanent or Temp to Perm
A SEND school in Haringey is looking for a dedicated and nurturing teacher to join their specialist setting, supporting pupils with a wide range of complex needs. The school provides education for children and young people with profound and multiple learning disabilities, physical disabilities, communication difficulties, and significant developmental needs.
Teaching at this school is centred around a highly personalised and sensory-based curriculum. Staff work closely with therapists, support workers, and families to ensure each pupil has the right level of care, structure, and opportunity to progress. Every day focuses on communication, emotional regulation, independence and helping pupils experience success in a way that is meaningful to them.
Class sizes are small with strong support from experienced teaching assistants and specialist staff. This allows teachers to take a creative, flexible and child-centred approach, adapting learning to each pupil’s abilities, interests and sensory needs. The school values teamwork, patience and a calm, consistent attitude.
The ideal teacher will have experience or a strong interest in working with children with complex needs or PMLD. You should be patient, adaptable and open to using sensory resources, visuals, routines and therapeutic teaching approaches. A positive attitude, a collaborative approach and a genuine commitment to helping every pupil feel safe and valued are essential.
Whether you are an experienced SEND teacher or a mainstream teacher looking to move into a specialist environment, this role offers a highly rewarding opportunity to make a difference in a school that celebrates every small step of progress.
