Learning Assistant – SEMH School

We are working in partnership with a forward-thinking SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Lambeth to recruit a dedicated and resilient Learning Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This is a highly rewarding role, supporting children and young people with additional needs - many of whom may display challenging behaviour linked to trauma, mental health, or emotional regulation difficulties.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with SEMH and SEND needs in and out of the classroom
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning plans
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in an SEMH or SEND setting is preferred
  • Personal experience with SEND (e.g. through family or volunteering) will be considered
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach
  • Strong resilience and confidence when faced with challenging behaviour
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people
