About the Role
Teaching Assistant / 1:1 Support – KS1 Primary School
Location: Thurrock
Position: Full-Time, Temp-to-Perm
Parker Smith Inclusion is pleased to be working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Thurrock, seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and wants to make a real difference in the early years of a child’s education.
The Role
In this unique position, you will:
- Morning: Provide 1:1 support in Reception, working closely with a child to help them engage with learning, manage their emotions, and develop key social and academic skills.
- Afternoon: Support a Year 1 class as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), assisting the teacher in delivering lessons, working with small groups, and supporting pupils’ learning and development.
This role offers the opportunity to work across Key Stage 1, gaining experience with a range of children and learning styles, while providing targeted, personalised support.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Reception pupil in the morning.
- Assist in classroom activities and small group work in Year 1 during the afternoon.
- Support pupils with additional needs, including SEMH, ASD, or behavioural challenges.
- Promote positive behaviour and a nurturing learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and fellow LSAs to deliver personalised support.
- Help children develop confidence, independence, and social skills.
Person Specification
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Experienced or enthusiastic about working with young children in KS1.
- Patient, compassionate and adaptable, able to respond to individual pupil needs.
- Confident in supporting learning in both 1:1 and small group contexts.
- A strong team player with excellent communication skills, engaging positively with staff, pupils, and parents.
