About the Role

Learning Support Assistant

Location: Barking and Dagenham
Pay: £90 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full time | Temp to perm

Do you laugh easily, listen deeply, and show up with kindness – even on the tough days?

Because this school isn’t looking for someone who just ticks boxes. They’re looking for someone with heart, humour and a steady presence. Someone who can connect with a child, even when the words aren’t there. Someone who doesn’t mind singing badly during phonics, celebrating wildly when a goal is achieved, or sitting quietly next to a child who just needs space.

You don’t need to be perfect, but you do need to be real. This is a role where being yourself is your superpower.

What makes this school different?

This is a vibrant, inclusive primary school with a clear purpose: to ensure every child, regardless of need, is seen, supported and celebrated.

With a specialist provision on-site and a leadership team that genuinely values support staff, this is the kind of setting where people stay, grow, and thrive.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Classrooms that are bright, calm and well-resourced

  • A purpose-built sensory space where children can regulate in their own way

  • A warm, welcoming team who genuinely look out for each other

  • A SENCO who takes the time to know every child — and every adult supporting them

What will you actually be doing?

Your focus will be on supporting one pupil throughout the day — building a relationship based on consistency, trust and understanding.

You’ll be:

  • Supporting communication and learning through tailored resources and visuals

  • Helping the pupil feel safe, calm and ready to engage with their learning

  • Adapting classroom tasks so they can participate meaningfully

  • Working alongside the SENCO and class teacher to meet EHCP targets

  • Creating an environment that feels predictable, positive and nurturing

  • Celebrating every win, big or small — because they all matter

You’ll thrive here if:

  • You know how to stay calm when things don’t go to plan

  • You can find humour in the messier moments of the day

  • You believe that behaviour is communication and respond with empathy

  • You bring a positive energy and aren’t afraid to be a bit silly when it helps

  • You’re ready to be part of a team that genuinely supports each other

  • You don’t just want a job — you want to show up and make a difference

Why partner with Parker Smith Inclusion?

We’re not your typical agency. We work exclusively in SEND and pride ourselves on matching great people with great schools — places where they can be themselves, do meaningful work, and feel genuinely appreciated.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Full PAYE (no umbrella deductions or confusing contracts)

  • Insightful school matching based on culture and values, not just your CV

  • Honest conversations, detailed prep and ongoing support

  • Opportunities to explore long-term SEND careers if that’s where you’re heading

If this sounds like a role where you’d feel at home, I’d love to hear from you.

Reach out to Elisha at elisha@psinclusion.co.uk or send over your CV when you're ready.

Sometimes the most impactful roles aren’t about having all the answers, they’re about showing up with the right heart.
