About the Role

Pastoral Mentor 

Hackney 

Full Time - Long term

Are you passionate about supporting young people with behavioural, social, emotional and mental health needs? 

We are working with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) based in Central London that caters for students from primary to year 11 across two sites,. The school provides short- and long-term placements for young people unable to attend mainstream education due to behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as additional diagnoses such as ASC and ADHD.

They are seeking an experienced Pastoral Support Mentor to join their team, delivering 1:1 and small group mentoring interventions to students in Key Stage 3. The ideal candidates will already have experience mentoring and supporting young people with behavioural, social and emotional needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver targeted intervention and mentoring sessions to support emotional well-being and behaviour.

  • Build positive relationships to help students develop resilience and coping strategies.

  • Work with staff and external agencies to create personalised support plans.

  •  Monitor progress and encourage engagement in learning.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or in a PRU/SEN setting.

  • Previous experience mentoring students and delivering interventions 

  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and restorative approaches.

SEN Teaching Assistant A mainstream primary school in Haringey are looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support two boys who will be entering year 5 in September. This is a fantastic opportunity to provide 1:1 support to children SEND and to build trusting relationships. Science Teacher PRU Islington Pupil Referral Unit September 2025 A Pupil Referral Unit based in Islington are looking for a Science Teacher to join them in September. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role, working with young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to social, emotional or mental health needs, or behavioural challenges.
