About the Role

Job Title: PMLD Support Assistant
Location: Havering
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time | Term-time only | Long-term opportunity

“Every child communicates — we just need to learn how to listen.”

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school setting supporting pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). This is a long-term opportunity for a dedicated professional with at least 1 year of experience working in an SEN environment and a Level 2 or Level 3 TA qualification.

These schools cater to pupils with complex needs — including medical, sensory, and physical disabilities. Many pupils are non-verbal, use wheelchairs, and require high levels of personalised care. You will be working in classrooms that range from calm and sensory-focused to physically and emotionally intensive — always with the shared goal of supporting each child's dignity, learning, and development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups in line with EHCPs and individual learning plans

  • Implementing sensory, therapeutic, and play-based learning activities

  • Using alternative communication tools (PECS, visual timetables, assistive technology)

  • Assisting with personal care, including toileting, feeding, and hoisting (full training provided)

  • Creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for pupils to thrive

We’re Looking For

  • At least 1 year of experience working with children or young people with SEND

  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification

  • Confidence supporting pupils with PMLD, complex needs, or physical disabilities

  • A calm, compassionate, and observant approach — especially in challenging moments

  • Someone who thrives in a team, takes initiative, and is committed to inclusive education

What You’ll Gain

  • A fulfilling role in a supportive specialist education environment

  • Opportunities to deepen your experience with complex needs and PMLD

  • Ongoing training and development, with pathways for career growth

  • A collaborative and experienced staff team that values your input

Why Join Through Parker Smith Inclusion?

  • We are SEND specialists with a people-first, values-led approach

  • PAYE only — no umbrella companies or hidden fees

  • Long-term placements with consistent consultant support

  • Transparent, ethical recruitment that prioritises your wellbeing
