🌱 About the School: A Brand-New, Therapeutic Setting

We are working in partnership with a brand-new specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) primary school located in Chelmsford, part of an outstanding group of schools known for their deeply therapeutic and child-centred approach.

This is not just another teaching job—this is an opportunity to join a passionate and highly skilled team from the ground up, shaping a nurturing, trauma-informed environment where children can begin to heal and learn.

The school is designed specifically for pupils who have faced significant adversity, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and who require a structured, compassionate, and therapeutic setting in which to thrive.

Every aspect of the school—from its curriculum and teaching approach to daily routines and meals—is crafted to prioritise emotional wellbeing, safety, and connection. Staff members work collaboratively, supporting each other and the pupils through a shared ethos of trust, empathy, and encouragement.

🌟 What Makes This Role So Special?

  • You’ll be part of a founding team, playing a vital role in shaping the school’s culture and direction.

  • You’ll be working in a school that believes in the power of holistic education: therapy dogs, art therapy, daily mindfulness, and nourishing meals are all part of the daily routine.

  • You’ll be genuinely supported as a professional and as a person—with optional therapy for staff, wellbeing initiatives, and a strong sense of community among colleagues.

🍎 Benefits You’ll Receive:

  • A wholesome, chef-prepared lunch provided every day—nourishing food for both body and mind.

  • A personal Apple MacBook for classroom use and to take home.

  • Access to on-site wellbeing resources, including therapy dogs and optional staff counselling.

  • Opportunities to work alongside qualified therapists and specialists in behaviour, attachment, and mental health.

  • Ongoing professional development and leadership pathways.

  • A school community where your voice is heard and valued.

📚 Who We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teachers (QTS/QTSL or equivalent)

  • Teachers from mainstream backgrounds who are ready to embrace the unique rewards of SEND education

  • Newly Qualified Teachers (ECTs) who are passionate about inclusion and therapeutic teaching approaches

  • Individuals with a growth mindset, a strong sense of empathy, and a genuine belief in the potential of every child

🎯 What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Teaching a small class of primary-aged pupils with SEMH needs, supported by skilled teaching assistants and therapists

  • Creating a safe, engaging, and therapeutic learning environment where pupils feel seen, heard, and supported

  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver personalised learning plans

  • Helping pupils develop both academically and emotionally—measuring progress not only in grades, but in confidence, relationships, and resilience
