About the Role
Secondary Teaching Assistant, SEMH, Autism and ADHD Specialist School
Mole Valley, Surrey | Full-time, Permanent | September 2025 | £20,000 to £25,000 per year (depending on experience)
Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of autistic and neurodivergent young people?
Are you looking for a role where every single day matters, not just for the pupils but for you as well?
We are working with a therapeutic, specialised school in Mole Valley, Surrey. This school supports children aged 7 to 16 with Autism, ADHD, and related communication and emotional needs. It focuses on connection, structure, and calmness. It is a place where both pupils and staff are respected, supported, and given the space to grow.
We are looking for caring and dedicated Teaching Assistants to join the team starting in September 2025.
What does the role involve?
Each class has no more than 6 to 8 pupils, supported by a specialist SEN Teacher and at least one devoted Teaching Assistant. You will be part of a close-knit, collaborative team that works together to create consistency, trust, and safety.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils one-on-one or in small groups with their academic learning
- Assisting with personal development, well-being, and social communication goals
- Adapting learning materials and using strategies like Zones of Regulation or sensory tools
- Supporting outdoor learning and enrichment sessions to help build confidence and resilience
- Working with therapists, teachers, and families to provide consistent care and support
Who would suit this role?
You might already be an experienced Teaching Assistant in a SEN or alternative provision setting. Or, you might come from a background in care, the arts, youth work, psychology, theatre, or sports and are seeking a more rewarding, long-term career path.
You do not need to have worked in a school before. What matters most is your emotional intelligence, patience, and ability to support pupils with empathy and structure.
Why join this school?
- Specialist SEN setting supporting Autism, ADHD, and SEMH.
- Therapeutic, child-centred approach that prioritises well-being and personal growth
- Excellent facilities including a sports hall, design technology suite, theatre, science lab, and outdoor learning areas
- Small, stable class sizes, no more than 8 pupils per class
- Extensive training and professional development from day one
- Collaborative team environment dedicated to inclusion and growth
This is the kind of role that stays with you. We would love to hear from you if you are ready to be part of a school where relationships are crucial and your support will directly influence a child’s journey.
