SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Specialist SEMH School

Temp to Perm £120 - £130 Per Day PAYE

We are working with a highly regarded specialist SEMH school in Enfield that provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for young people who have faced barriers to learning.

The school follows a trauma-informed approach, supporting students to rebuild confidence, re-engage with education, and develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive.

This is a challenging yet rewarding HLTA role, where you will take a lead in supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions, and helping to shape positive outcomes for students with complex SEMH needs.

The role

Plan and deliver small group or 1:1 interventions to support learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt and deliver lessons tailored to individual needs.
Model and promote positive behaviour management strategies across the school.
Support in the assessment and tracking of student progress.
Lead and mentor LSAs, supporting their professional growth and practice.
Build strong, trusting relationships that help students feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.

About You

Experienced in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour.
Confident in leading learning and delivering planned sessions in the teacher’s absence.
Able to apply trauma-informed and restorative approaches effectively.
Resilient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.
Hold HLTA status or equivalent experience supporting teaching and learning at a higher level.

We are working with a SEN school that is based in Enfield and are looking for dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants to join their welcoming team. The school caters to students aged from 3 – 19 years with a range of SEND. Key Responsibilities Learning Support Assistant Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum. Assist with the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher. Support students with personal care needs when necessary (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing). Use visual aids, Makaton, or other communication tools to support students with communication difficulties. Promote social interaction, independent learning, and self-esteem in all students. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress.
