About the Role

SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant 

Specialist SEMH School

Temp to Perm £120 - £130 Per Day PAYE 

We are working with a highly regarded specialist SEMH school in Enfield that provides a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment for young people who have faced barriers to learning.

The school follows a trauma-informed approach, supporting students to rebuild confidence, re-engage with education, and develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive.

This is a challenging yet rewarding HLTA role, where you will take a lead in supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions, and helping to shape positive outcomes for students with complex SEMH needs.

The role 

  • Plan and deliver small group or 1:1 interventions to support learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.

  • Work collaboratively with class teachers to adapt and deliver lessons tailored to individual needs.

  • Model and promote positive behaviour management strategies across the school.

  • Support in the assessment and tracking of student progress.

  • Lead and mentor LSAs, supporting their professional growth and practice.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships that help students feel valued, supported, and motivated to succeed.

About You

  • Experienced in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs or challenging behaviour.

  • Confident in leading learning and delivering planned sessions in the teacher’s absence.

  • Able to apply trauma-informed and restorative approaches effectively.

  • Resilient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.

  • Hold HLTA status or equivalent experience supporting teaching and learning at a higher level.

1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant

1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant Islington Starting 17th November We are supporting a mainstream school in Islington who are lookng for a dedicated 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with a pupil will be be moving from a Pupil Referral Unit through an EHCP consultation to the mainstream setting in mid-November. There is a great opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of a child transitioning from a PRU to a mainstream environment. The pupil has SEMH nees and a diagnosis of ASC. Someone with a nurturing but boundaried approach, with knowledge of trauma and informed practice is really important. The Role Providing consistent nurturing support while maintaining clear boundaries. Applying trauma-informed practices to promote emotional well-being and engagement. Supporting the pupil in class, during structured activities, and unstructured times such as break and lunch. Helping the pupil build confidence, resilience, and independence. Working closely with teachers, the SENCO, families, and external professionals to deliver tailored support and monitor progress. Being a positive role model and helping the pupil to develop strategies to manage emotions and behaviour. About You Experienced in supporting children with SEMH needs or highly motivated to learn and develop in this area. Patient, empathetic, adaptable, and resilient in a challenging but rewarding environment. Knowledgeable about trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches. ASC Teacher Enfield M1 - UPS1 (£36,000 - £50,000) Are you an experienced ASC Teacher who skills and experience are not having the impact they should have, because of the environment or lack of support. Arriving at the school with its modern building in an open space, and then meeting the staff, you immediately feel this is a welcoming environment.
