About the Role

SEMH Primary Teacher - Essex - ASAP - Can be full time or part time - 3 days - Harlow - Permanent role but can be long term agency if preferred

SEMH specialist school

We are looking for a SEMH Primary Teacher for a specialist SEMH school based in Harlow, Essex. The school caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education. The school caters for students who have very complex SEMH and sometimes a dual diagnosis of autism. This specialist teaching role to start asap or Easter and will be teaching a primary class of around 4-6 students. 

We support Education providers that educate children and young people who for many reasons cannot access any other formal educational settings – these are the most vulnerable, at risk and hard to reach in our community. Understanding their SEMH needs must be met before any academic development can happen. Understanding their SEMH needs is essential in these roles and we are seeking individuals who can make a positive impact.

What We Are looking for - SEMH Primary Teacher

  • Therapeutic teaching approach
  • Able to deliver primary curriculum 
  • Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
  • Experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication teaching background
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
  • Experience of working with disengaged teenagers is essential.

SEMH Learning Support Assistant

We are currently working with a wonderful Academy that are seeking a Learning Support Assistant to work within their SEND provision, you will be supporting their secondary students who are struggling to flourish in the mainstream environment, these students have ASD, ADHD and/or SEMH. They are looking for someone who has experience working with SEMH and who is passionate and empathetic. This setting has the ethos that to learn to full potential a student has to be emotionally, mentally and physically ready. The curriculum they deliver works to specifically develop all three of these areas. They understand that physical and emotional wellbeing is off the upmost importance. If needed they offer their students out-reach mentoring and counselling services and also additional support for fine and gross motor skills.
