SEMH Teaching Assistant

Specialist SEMH School – Enfield
Starting ASAP

£100 - £120 Per Day PAYE 

Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs? Do you want to make a real difference in helping students overcome barriers to learning and thrive both emotionally and academically?

We are working with a progressive and inclusive SEMH specialist school in Enfield, seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. The school supports with significant SEMH needs and associated challenges, offering a structured, nurturing environment where students can rebuild trust, confidence, and engagement in learning.

About the Role:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs often combined with autism, ADHD, and other learning differences

  • Providing consistent, calm and emotionally literate support in and outside of lessons

  • Supporting students with emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies

  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and behaviour support teams to deliver individualised intervention plans

  • Promoting a safe, structured, and relational learning environment 

  • Supporting learning in both 1:1 and small group settings

 

The School Is Looking for Someone Who:

  • Has experience (formal or informal) working with young people who have challenging behaviour or SEMH needs

  • Is emotionally resilient, patient, and able to remain calm in high-pressure situations

  • Has a strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches and restorative practices

  • Can build trusting, therapeutic relationships with students who may have experienced trauma or exclusion

  • Is passionate about inclusive education and supporting vulnerable learners

Learning Support Assistant Enfield SEN Specialist School Year 5 & 6 Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young people with SEND? We are working with a wonderful SEND school based in North London that is looking for passionate and nurturing Learning Support Assistants to join it's supportive team. The school caters for children in yar 54 & 6 with complex needs and provides inclusive and personalised learning. They are looking for suitable candidates who have experience supporting children with complex needs. The main need in the classroom is autism, some students are nonverbal and communicate using symbols. Key Responsibilities Learning Support Assistant Provide 1:1 and group support to students with SEND, helping them access the curriculum. Assist with the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities under the guidance of the class teacher. Support students with personal care needs when necessary (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing). Use visual aids, Makaton, or other communication tools to support students with communication difficulties. Promote social interaction, independent learning, and self-esteem in all students. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver individual education plans (IEPs) and monitor progress. Provide a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive emotionally and academically. Encourage positive behaviour through a consistent and caring approach, in line with the school's behaviour policy. Support with physical and sensory needs, including helping with the use of specialist equipment where required. Requirements Previous experience working in an SEN setting or with children with SEND. A genuine passion for supporting young people with special needs. Knowledge of conditions such as ASC, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties. Ability to work well as part of a team, following guidance from teachers and other professionals. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different levels of understanding. We are working with a PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) based in central London that are seeking passionate and resilient behaviour support assistants to join their experienced team. The school offers education to students in primary through to secondary who may be on a short-term or longer-term placement as they are not able to attend mainstream education. This will be due to their challenging behaviour, social, emotional and mental health needs and can be other additional needs.
