A school in Camden is looking for a SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team ASAP. This role is in a primary setting that supports students aged 3-11.

This role centres on building meaningful connections through patience, resilience and empathy. You’ll support young people who find school challenging, helping them grow in confidence and progress at a pace that suits their individual needs. Your role as a SEMH Autism Teaching Assistant:

  • Meeting children at the school gate to ensure a positive and calm start.
  • Help de-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies
  • Model calm, respectful and consistent behaviour.
  • Leading sensory breaks or movement time.
  • Encourage participation and celebrate all small successes.
  • Develop trusting, positive relationships.
  • To promote increasing independence
