About the Role
SENCO - Primary School (Barnet)
Pay: £53,261 - £57,716
Full or Part time (4 days minimum)

A warm and inclusive primary school in the Barnet area is seeking an experienced and committed SENCo to join their supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable SEND professional who can confidently lead provision across the school and ensure high-quality support for pupils with additional needs.
About the Role
The successful SENCo will oversee SEND provision across the whole school, including a dedicated specialist space which currently supports a small group of children awaiting special school placements. You will work closely with staff, external professionals and families to ensure that all pupils with SEND receive the support they need to thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading SEND provision across the school
- Overseeing a specialist space supporting 6 pupils with significant needs
- Managing a SENCo Assistant and SENCo Admin Assistant
- Coordinating EHCPs, annual reviews, referrals and new applications
- Using insights from two recent SEN audits to guide next steps and drive continued improvement
- Ensuring high-quality SEND systems and documentation
- Liaising with teaching staff to support inclusive classroom practice
Current SEND Profile
- 26% of pupils are on the SEND register (76 out of 292)
- 18 EHCPs across the main school, with further applications required
- A dedicated SENCo Assistant (part-time teaching commitment)
- A SENCo Admin Assistant who provides robust administrative support around EHCPs and referrals
A full handover will be provided by the current Inclusion Lead, who will also remain available to offer ongoing support and ensure continuity of systems and processes.
Ideal Candidate
- Holds the NASENCo qualification (or working towards it)
- Has strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
- Confident managing EHCP processes and liaising with external agencies
- A strong communicator who can lead, motivate and support staff
- Able to work proactively and independently in a busy school environment
