Learning Assistant – SEMH School

We are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Croydon to recruit a dedicated and resilient Learning Assistant to join their team from September 2025.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support children and young people who face significant barriers to learning, including challenging behaviour linked to trauma, emotional needs, and mental health difficulties.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted support to pupils with SEMH and SEND needs

  • Assist in delivering individualised learning programmes

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

  • Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour

  • Help create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment


What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working in an SEMH or SEND setting is an advantage

  • Personal experience with SEND will also be considered

  • A calm, empathetic, and patient nature

  • Resilience and confidence when working with pupils displaying challenging behaviour

  • A strong desire to help young people thrive, both academically and emotionally
