Part Time SENCO - 3 days per week - Non-Teaching Tower Hamlets Independent School - OFSTED "Good" Immediate Start Must be Qualified SENCO - Managerial over-site of SEN Department Parker Smith Inclusion are working with an independent school based in Tower Hamlets (short walk from Liverpool Street) and they are seeking a part time SENCO to oversee the strategic duties of the SENCo role. This means there is no teaching involved however we're looking for candidates that have done the SENCo role and are confident with the policies, procedures and working hand in hand with the local authority around fundings for EHCPs. This is a small school with 22 students and their cohort has recently increased with children that have high learning needs, non-verbal, learning difficulties and complex needs and they are developing their SEN department. We're looking for candidates that will be advocates for SEN and believe in the schools message and ethos. Must have experience with the following; Experience contributing to or leading whole-school SEND strategy, policy development, and improvement planning. Evidence of working as part of the senior leadership team (SLT) or influencing whole-school approaches to inclusion and differentiation Experience collaborating with local authority SEND officers, educational psychologists, and health and social care professionals. Strong understanding of the EHCP process, including preparing evidence, attending multi-agency meetings, and securing additional funding or placements. Experience managing or advising on SEND budgets, including notional SEND funding and top-up (EHCP) funding. Ability to evaluate provision and ensure effective use of funding to improve outcomes for pupils with SEND. Familiarity with SEND Code of Practice (2015) and updates to Children and Families Act (2014) and local SEND reforms. SEMH Support PRU/SEMH setting Newham / Stratford / Plaistow / North Woolwich Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 4:30 - Term Time Only Long Term Roles Supporting children or young people with social, emotional mental health needs is one of the most important roles within education. It involves supporting young people that struggle with their daily lives due to childhood trauma, current trauma, mental health, struggles in social settings and special needs. You are required to be an empathetic, patient, reliable person that understands these students have struggles and their behaviours are not personal but their way of communicating and need help to regulate and understand the emotions they are going through. These students need consistency and routine as they may not have this in their personal lives, you will be there support system. SEMH schools cohorts are changing meaning that there is a student increase of children with SEN needs that are being masked, leading to mainstream settings not being able to meet their needs causing them to be removed. This then leads to confusion and upset so you need to be prepared for children that are dysregulated and have the ability to support them appropriately. I am seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH TA to support children with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs in a specialist therapeutic setting.
