A well-regarded, inclusive primary school in Barking and Dagenham is seeking a passionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time, term-time role beginning in September, initially on a PAYE daily rate with a view to going permanent.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in supporting pupils with a range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

You’ll work alongside class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement tailored strategies, build trusting relationships, and support pupils in developing confidence, independence, and positive learning habits.

 

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support

  • Assist in the implementation and review of EHCPs

  • Encourage positive peer interaction and classroom inclusion

  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families

  • Support social and emotional regulation throughout the school day

 

Who We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 6 months’ experience supporting children with SEND (school or similar setting)

  • A nurturing, observant, and proactive approach
