About the Role
Year 1 Teaching Assistant – SEN Support
Location: Havering
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full-time | Temp-to-perm | Start: ASAP

A welcoming, inclusive primary school in Havering is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their Year 1 classroom, supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a nurturing mainstream environment where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to flourish.

What the Role Involves:

Supporting a pupil with SEN within a mainstream Year 1 classroom

Assisting with learning, communication, and daily routines

Encouraging independence while providing gentle guidance and reassurance

Helping the pupil transition smoothly between activities and environments

Collaborating closely with the class teacher, SEND team, and families to provide consistent support
About You:

Previous experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable, though skills from teaching, care, youth work, or similar roles are also valued

Calm, patient, and understanding – you focus on supporting development rather than simply managing behaviour

Thrive in structured environments where routine helps children feel safe and succeed
