Duties for this Occupational Therapist (OT) will include: Provide a high quality, school-based Occupational Therapy Service to children, their families, care givers, and schools Assessment, strategies, training, modelling, programs and equipment/adaptation recommendations Consult school staff such as Senior Leaders, SENCOs, and class teachers to support the integration of OT principles into the curriculum Identify training needs amongst school staff and parents Contribute to Annual Reviews as and when required Measuring and evaluating outcomes Contribute to the creation of service development outcomes Creating resources Providing strategies through coaching Requirements for this Occupational Therapist (OT) To work as a school based Occupational Therapist, you will need to hold a recognised Occupational Therapy degree, be HCPC registered and a registered member of the British College of Occupational Therapists. You will need solid paediatric OT experience, ideally working with a broad range of SEND to include Autism Imaginative: It’s certainly worth keeping in mind that students may become discouraged during their treatment session so it’s important to remain imaginative to create a welcoming and accepting environment Collaborative: It’s important to remain open to collaboration with your students’ team Versatile: You will be based across a case load of schools and provisions for SEND, age ranges from primary to secondary with a broad spectrum of additional needs Patient: Students may react to their OT sessions differently or could even feel defeated at times.
