Nurture Teacher – Autism/SEMH Specialist (Alternative Provision) Primary School Setting | Two Brand-New Classes | Full-Time Position Salary: Competitive (MPS/UPS - Outer London) £186.73 - £276.64 per day Start Date: September 2025 Are you an experienced, resilient, and compassionate teacher with a passion for supporting pupils with Autism, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and challenging behaviours? We are seeking a Nurture Teacher to lead two newly established classes within our forward-thinking primary school, supporting children with complex profiles including Autism, high levels of dysregulation, and SEMH. This is a unique opportunity to shape an Alternative Provision (AP) environment from the ground up, backed by a committed senior leadership team. About the Role: You will be teaching and leading learning in a small, highly supported class designed to meet the needs of children who display: Autism with high sensory and emotional regulation needs SEMH challenges, including combative outbursts, swearing, and physical behaviours such as scratching, biting, pinching, and spitting Low self-esteem, attachment needs, and high levels of anxiety This role will be challenging, but for the right person, it’s an incredibly rewarding opportunity to make a life-changing difference. We Are Looking For Someone Who: Has a solid background in teaching pupils with Autism and/or SEMH Understands and is prepared for the physical and emotional challenges of managing dysregulation and behaviour that can be aggressive Uses trauma-informed, nurture-based, and relational approaches to behaviour Can plan and deliver a tailored curriculum that balances academic progress with emotional regulation and social development Works well in a multidisciplinary team with support staff, therapists, and external agencies Is calm, patient, and proactive in the face of challenging behaviour What We Offer: A newly designed provision with your input from the start High staff-to-pupil ratios and behaviour specialist support Access to continuous professional development including Team Teach, trauma-informed practice, and Autism education training A supportive senior leadership team that values wellbeing and staff voice The chance to be part of a truly inclusive and progressive school This is more than a teaching role – it’s a calling to nurture, support, and guide some of our most vulnerable learners.
