Early Years Learning Support Assistant January 2026 Start Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 3:30 East Ham, MS Primary Setting Are you an Early Years specialist looking to transition into a mainstream school with a nursery? Do you have a qualification within EYFS/Childcare? Would you be confident to support children that have special needs? They are looking for a TA that can support a young child with down syndrome within the nursery, your day will consist of working 1:1 with the child supporting them with early years learning such as; phonics, bucket time, picture communication cards, sensory learning and learning through play (messy/water play) . You will need to be an energetic, creative person with lots of personality to be playful with the child and understand that they will be looking to you as their immediate support in any scenario. I am working with a fantastic outstanding secondary school in North East London that is looking for two experienced secondary teaching assistants to join their supportive team. They are looking for suitable candidates who have experience working with secondary students with SEN, ideally experience with ASD, ADHD and Physical and/or Sensory needs. This experience can be previous work experience or personal experience. These roles are going to be 1:1 working with the child within their mainstream lessons and assisting them around the school, one child is in Year 11 and the other is in Year 8, both struggle with discipline and require a TA that has the balance of nurture and authority, ability to implement the schools rules and regulations. Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant Special School Setting - Primary & Secondary Autism & Complex Needs Newham, Plaistow Teaching Assistant (Autism Specialist) About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Autism (ASC) to join our supportive and experienced team. This role involves working with secondary-aged students with Autism and complex needs, many of whom learn through a sensory-based curriculum. You will play a key part in helping students access learning, develop communication and independence skills, and engage positively with school life. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and confident in supporting young people with diverse needs. Key Responsibilities Provide tailored support to students with Autism and complex needs, ensuring their learning needs are met. Maintain accurate records and contribute to planning and review meetings when appropriate. Person Specification Essential: Experience working with young people with Autism and/or complex needs. Understanding of sensory processing differences and sensory-based learning. Confidence in supporting behaviour, including willingness and ability to use physical intervention safely after training. Compassionate, resilient, and able to remain calm under pressure. Willingness to assist with personal care. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Desirable: Experience in a specialist or SEND setting. Training in Team Teach / PBM / CPI or other recognised behaviour-support frameworks. Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems.
