About the Role

ASAP Start - ECTs Welcome - Temp2Perm SEN Teacher Role

Special School - North Woolwich

Pre-Verbal - SLD Class - 6 students

A well established special school in East London are actively seeking an experienced teacher for a temp to permanent opportunity for their primary site for an immediate start. The students within this school have severe learning difficulties, autism, complex needs and speech & language requirements.

Operating as a part of a trust that functions across East London, this special school boasts incredible development and training opportunities with a focus on staff retention and supporting talent. It is a fantastic environment to expand or learn new skills within a special needs environment.

This role is also open to ECTs as you will be provided support whilst on contract and once permanent you will be enrolled in your ECT entitlement from September 2026.

Requirements;

  • QTS or equivalent
  • Special Education Degree (desirable)
  • Experience within a special school setting preferred or can display strong experience with SEN children in a professional setting
  • Experience with children that display SLD, ASC, SPLD
  • Teach individuals or small groups of pupils within or outside the class
  • Prepare lessons and resources
  • Mark and assess work
  • Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet individual pupil need
  • Liaise with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists
  • Behaviour management
