About the Role:
A Central London Pupil Referral Unit is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Counsellor to join their multidisciplinary team. This is a unique opportunity to work with young people who face complex emotional, behavioural, and social challenges, providing therapeutic support to help them overcome barriers to learning and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions tailored to the needs of students.

  • Support students with emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, and other SEMH challenges.

  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure holistic care.

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing reporting.

  • Deliver interventions that promote resilience, self-esteem, and coping strategies.

Person Specification:

  • Recognised counselling qualification (e.g., Level 6 in Counselling, Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, or equivalent).

  • Experience working with children and young people, ideally within SEMH or PRU settings.

  • Understanding of mental health, attachment, trauma-informed approaches, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Excellent communication, empathy, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to remain patient, professional, and flexible in challenging situations.
