Job Advert: SEN Teaching Assistant
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Autism Support)
Location: Tower Hamlets, Mainstream Primary School (Special Class)
Salary: £85 - £100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Long-term, Full-time
Are you passionate about supporting children with autism and helping them reach their full potential? We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a friendly and inclusive mainstream primary school. You will be based in a special class of 7 students with autism, working closely with each child to provide tailored support in line with their individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support a small class of 7 students with autism and high needs in a specialist setting within a mainstream primary school.
- Assist the class teacher in delivering structured and engaging lessons, focusing on social, emotional, and academic development.
- Provide one-to-one or group support to students, helping them with their learning, communication, and personal development.
- Implement individual learning plans and support positive behavior management strategies.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and safe learning environment for all students.
- Liaise with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to ensure students' needs are met effectively.
- Interventions, bucket time would be ideal.
Candidate Requirements:
- Experience: Must have previous experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs, ideally in a specialist or SEN setting.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, and a positive attitude towards working with children with high needs. You must be confident in managing challenging behaviors and supporting students with complex needs.
- Personal Attributes: A caring, compassionate, and resilient individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with autism.
- Qualifications: SEN-related qualifications or training is desirable but not essential.
