A chance to teach English in a way that truly changes lives
Do you believe every child deserves someone who won’t give up on them?
We are looking for an English Teacher who is ready to bring patience, creativity, and compassion to pupils who need it most.
This isn’t a mainstream teaching role. It’s about giving children with Autism (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) the chance to feel safe, heard, and capable of success.
About the school
This is a small, therapeutic school for children aged 9–16 who cannot thrive in mainstream. Here, relationships come first.
Small classes of no more than 8 pupils, with two fantastic Teaching Assistants in each
A calm, nurturing setting with Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Behaviour Support on hand
A creative, personalised curriculum that celebrates progress as much as outcomes
A leadership team that listens, supports, and invests in staff wellbeing and professional growth
What you’ll be doing day to day
Teaching English Language & Literature up to GCSE, with plenty of freedom to adapt lessons to your pupils’ needs
Finding creative ways to make reading and writing exciting and meaningful for learners who may have lost confidence
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour, always with a trauma-informed, patient approach
Working as part of a close-knit team where teachers, TAs, and therapists all pull together for the same goal
Building the kind of relationships where pupils feel safe to take risks, try again, and believe in themselves
Why you’ll love working here
The school is growing, and there will be real opportunities for progression and leadership.
You’ll get access to excellent CPD and training, including behaviour, SEN, and therapeutic approaches.
If you don’t yet hold QTS/QTLS, there are routes into formal teacher training.
You’ll be part of a school where staff feel valued, supported, and proud of the work they do every day.
Best of all, you’ll have the chance to teach in a way that really matters, without the same pressures of mainstream.
About you
A Qualified Teacher (QTS / QTLS) or an unqualified teacher with at least 2 years’ teaching experience
Confident in teaching English up to GCSE and able to adapt to a range of abilities
Patient, resilient, and passionate about inclusive practice
Skilled at building trust with young people who may find school difficult
Experience with Autism, ADHD, or SEMH (personal or professional) would be a bonus, but not essential
Apply today
If you are the kind of English Teacher who teaches with heart, sees potential where others might not, and wants to be part of a truly supportive community, we’d love to hear from you.
Interviews are happening now. Apply today or contact Heeji Moon at Parker Smith Inclusion.

KS3 Nurture Teacher – SEMH / Therapeutic
Location: Richmond, South West London (Outer London)
Salary: £194.21 - £258.84, MPS (Outer London) | PAYE only
Contract: Full-time, temporary to permanent (term-time only)
Start date: October half-term
The role
We are partnering with a therapeutic SEMH specialist school in Richmond to appoint a KS3 Nurture Teacher. The school supports pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to complex SEMH needs, often alongside Autism (ASC). You will deliver a nurture-based curriculum (KS2–KS3), prioritising emotional regulation, relationships and readiness to learn.
What is it like working in a SEMH school?
Every day is different. Routines help, but no two days are the same; you must be flexible and ready to adapt.
Relationships come first. Success depends on building trust and consistency with students before academic progress can happen.
There will be highs and lows. You’ll see challenging behaviours and setbacks, but also incredible breakthroughs when a student feels safe enough to engage.
Teamwork is essential. You work closely with therapists, teachers, TAs, and pastoral staff in a joined-up, therapeutic approach.
Personal reward: It can be demanding, but helping a young person regulate, re-engage, and grow in confidence is deeply fulfilling.
Key responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging core-subject lessons within a nurture framework
Implement trauma-informed, relational and restorative approaches
Use positive behaviour support and effective de-escalation strategies
Work collaboratively with therapists and specialist SEMH Teaching Assistants
Set and review targets (including EHCP outcomes) and maintain exemplary safeguarding
About you
QTS is essential; Primary-trained teachers are warmly encouraged to apply
Credible experience supporting pupils with SEMH, trauma, sensory and social communication needs
Calm, patient and consistent; a positive role model who builds trust
SEMH school experience is an advantage; we also welcome applicants transitioning from mainstream with a strong therapeutic ethos
What’s on offer
A growing school
A collaborative, values-driven team and strong leadership
Extensive SEMH and therapeutic CPD and clear progression pathways
Safeguarding & equality
The school and Parker Smith Inclusion are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS, references and relevant checks. We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
If you are interested in this KS3 Nurture Teacher position, please apply now or contact Heeji Moon at Parker Smith Inclusion.
