We’re partnering with an exceptional specialist school in Peckham that supports students aged 11 to 19 with complex learning difficulties, Autism (ASC), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), and severe learning difficulties (SLD). Many of the young people here are non-verbal; some require mobility support or use wheelchairs. Others have additional medical or sensory needs. This work can be challenging, but it is deeply rewarding. You’ll never feel like just a cog in the machine.

Your Role as a SEN Teaching Assistant
You will join a skilled and caring team that takes pride in delivering holistic, person-centred education. Your daily tasks may include:
Supporting students with Autism, SLD, and PMLD during lessons, breaks, and activities
Encouraging communication using Makaton, PECS, or AAC devices (full training will be provided)
Assisting with personal care, feeding routines, and hydrotherapy sessions in the on-site pool
Creating a safe, calm, and positive classroom environment where all students can thrive
Building consistent and trusting relationships with the young people in your care
You need a willingness to learn, a kind nature, and a calm, resilient presence. The school will provide comprehensive training, including manual handling, safeguarding, and communication strategies.

I am actively seeking an engaging and passionate Behaviour Mentor to work in a PRU setting that provides education to children who are unable to be educated in a mainstream school due to behaviour difficulties. I am looking to speak to professional and committed Behaviour Mentors to work in a PRU setting in Harlow. The role is non class based and is working across the school with individual students requiring additional mentoring.
Even if your experience is informal/voluntary, I want to hear from you! The children you will support will have a variety of needs which can include significant complex behaviour challenges.
