About The School;
We are working with a post-16 SEN school based in North London that caters for students aged 16 to 25 with an EHCP. The school supports young people with a range of SEND, including ASC, SEMH, Speech, Language, and Communication Needs, and other disabilities. They offer various programs to support these students, including a two-year Six Form for school leavers and other programmes and services. The school helps students develop life skills, embrace independence and prepare for the next steps in education or employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide classroom-based support to post-16 students with SEND.
Accompany and support students at work experience placements 1 day a week
Develop students' confidence, independence, and employability skills.
Work closely with teachers, employers, and external agencies to create a supportive and inclusive work environment
Support behaviour management and promote emotional regulation strategies.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with young people with SEMH, ASC, ADHD, and complex needs.
An HLTA qualification or extensive experience in a similar SEN support role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students and liaise with employers.
A proactive and flexible approach to supporting students in different settings.
A passion for empowering young people to achieve their potential in education and employment.

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist secondary provision in Outer London supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), many of whom have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, anxiety, dysregulation, and behavioural challenges. We are seeking a committed and passionate SEMH Teacher for a full-time, long-term role starting ASAP until July 2026.
About the School:
This is a specialist setting that provides a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for students who are not currently able to access mainstream education. Many pupils have EHCPs and benefit from individualised support and a trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning.
The Role:
As an SEMH Teacher, your focus will be on building trust, stability, and meaningful progress — both academic and personal. You will:
Plan and deliver creative, engaging lessons tailored to individual needs
Create a calm, consistent, and emotionally safe classroom environment
De-escalate challenging behaviours using restorative and relational approaches
Work closely with a skilled team of TAs, mentors, and pastoral staff
Build positive relationships with students, families, and outside agencies
Implement strategies that support emotional regulation, resilience, and re-engagement with learning
Ideal Candidate:
QTS or QTLS with experience teaching KS3/KS4 students
Background working in SEMH settings, PRUs, alternative provisions, or specialist schools
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour support strategies
Calm, consistent, and empathetic – able to model emotional regulation
Confident managing dysregulated behaviour and applying personalised interventions
Committed to building lasting, therapeutic relationships with students
Bonus if you have:

A nurture school in Plaistow are in need of a support worker within a nurture group of 8 students, the students have significant SEMH needs and struggle to emotionally regulate, such as impulsive disorders, hyperactivity and poor social communication skills.
The young people are taught core lessons on the school site but then go to an outdoor learning venue in Essex, to support them with a different learning style to keep them engaged. (transport is provided via the school)
A great candidate for this position would be someone who is active, creative, energetic, patient, and has the ability to understand young people to be able to build trust. It is essential that you also possess the skill set;
De-escalation and conflict resolution skills
Able to build rapport and trust with young people.
Support students to build emotional awareness and literacy skills
Support teachers to prepare classroom resources and equipment
Experience working with students who demonstrate challenging behaviours.
