Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team. The successful candidate will work closely with a primary school student with specific needs such as autism, speech and language difficulties, and engagement issues. You will provide consistent, tailored support to help the student navigate their educational journey and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEN, focusing on their unique needs and learning goals.
  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum, participating in classroom activities, and completing assignments.
  • Develop and implement individualized support strategies to enhance the student's engagement and learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to create and monitor personalized education plans (PEPs).
  • Foster a positive, trusting relationship with the student to encourage confidence and independence.
  • Utilize effective communication techniques to support the student's speech and language development.
  • Support the student in developing social skills and positive behaviours.
  • Regularly monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, particularly autism, speech and language difficulties, and engagement issues.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and effective support strategies.
  • Empathetic, patient, and approachable nature.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to commit to a full-time schedule, ensuring consistent support for the student.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or a related field are desirable.
