A specialist setting based in Camden is in need of a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a young person with learning difficulties, ASD and ADHD. This pupil is a kind and unique individual in need of a resilient and robust SEN Teaching Assistant to support his learning and development at school.
This school supports students facing barriers to learning in mainstream, faced adverse life experience or be struggling with mental health issues and have behaviours that are unable to be accommodated in mainstream schools.
Pupil needs are high, and having an understanding and empathy for students struggling with their mental health is an essential quality for this role. Similarly, to have an appreciation for the ways in which students may express their needs through physically aggressive or verbally abusive behaviour is vital.
The ideal 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant may have/be…
- Experience working with students with learning difficulties and complex behaviours
- Experience working with young people in a residential or SEMH setting
- Understanding of appropriate boundaries and procedure in schools
- Passionate about giving all students with opportunity to succeed
