I am currently working with an OFSTED-rated 'GOOD' primary school based in Hillingdon. We are actively seeking an Autism Support Worker to join a supportive and positive team. This position is full-time and has an immediate start date. If you really want to kick start your career in SEN this is definitely the role for you!

In this Autism Support Worker role, you would come across a varied group of students with Autism / ASC and a wide range of learning difficulties. You would be required to work alongside a team of Speech and Language Therapists, Art Therapists. This position is best suited to someone who has experience supporting children and young people in 121 settings. You would have primary responsibility of one pupil, however there would be a requirement to assist across other classes if there was a need.

What to expect as an Autism Support Worker

  • Integrating the creative arts into the curriculum such as music, art, drama and dance
  • As an Autism Support Worker, you will participate in a wide range of activities to promote the cognitive, cultural, social, physical, and emotional well-being of the pupils.
  • You must work alongside the teacher to create a plan and deliver learning activities
  • You must monitor how the children are developing and set targets for them to reach
  • Work alongside different professionals, including nurses, Occupational Therapists and Speech and Langauge Therapists.
  • As an Autism Support Worker, you will have to interact with the children through the use of play-based and sensory-related activities.

The Ideal Autism Support Worker

  • Has a personal interest in working with young people with Autism and associated learning difficulties
  • Already has some experience working with children with Special needs
  • The ideal Autism Support Worker will be able to build strong and meaningful relationships with staff and students
  • Perhaps you are a recent Graduate and you are looking to kickstart your career in an SEN School setting
  • The ideal Autism Support Worker will have a positive, patient, and proactive personality type with a desire to learn.
