Are you a strong and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant looking for a challenging and rewarding role in a fantastic SEN school for children with Autism and SEMH needs?

Do you have experience helping children with Autism and SEMH needs feel calmer and more settled in a school environment?

I am working with a fantastic and supportive SEN school in the London Borough of Wandsworth who are seeking an experienced Behaviour Teaching Assistant.

You will work 1:1 with a pupil who needs support with challenging behaviour and help them feel as calm and settled as possible so they can learn effectively.

This role requires a strong, resilient person who would be a strong role model.

Requirements of a Behaviour Teaching Assistant

  • Experience with challenging behaviour – this role would really suit someone who has worked in a PRU or SEMH school, has worked as a Pastoral Officer in a school, or has experience with challenging behaviour as a Youth Worker / Youth Mentor.
  • Experience working to support students with physically and emotionally challenging behaviour.
  • A resilient personality and an ability to build rapport quickly with staff and students.
  • De-escalation training, such as Team Teach, would be a bonus for this role; however, the school will provide their own specialised de-escalation training.
  • An interest in Autism/ASC, and mental health, as well as seeing behaviour as a form of communication, is essential for this Behaviour Teaching Assistant role

What to Expect as a Behaviour Teaching Assistant

  • The opportunity to work in a brilliant SEN school alongside a highly supportive team
  • The opportunity to really make a difference in the life of a pupil with Autism and SEMH needs.
  • Long-term to permanent positions available
  • The opportunity for a good work-life balance due to school time hours.
  • The opportunity to develop your skills as a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant

This challenging and highly rewarding role requires a strong and resilient personality and a strong drive to help and support children with additional needs.
