SEMH specialist school

We are looking for a Maths teacher / Science Teacher for a specialist SEMH school based in Essex. The school caters for students who are unable to access mainstream education. The school caters for students who have very complex SEMH and have unable to be educated in other specialist settings. This specialist teaching role to start immediately is teaching mainly Maths and/or Science but at lower levels. It is important that the Teacher can teach up to GCSE so that the school has the ability to teach students to that level if they are able to. 

We support Education providers that educate children and young people who for many reasons cannot access any other formal educational settings – these are the most vulnerable, at risk and hard to reach in our community. Understanding their SEMH needs must be met before any academic development can happen. Understanding their SEMH needs is essential in these roles and we are seeking individuals who can make a positive impact.

What We Are looking for - Maths Teacher / Science Teacher

  • Therapeutic teaching approach
  • Able to deliver core subjects at KS3 level
  • Experience of teaching with emotional regulation and with positive behaviour/de-escalation strategies
  • Positive role model to support communication, with a sensitive, nurturing, and consistent approach
  • Experience with SEMH, Trauma, Sensory processing, social communication teaching background
  • Ability to build strong and meaningful relationships with vulnerable students
  • Experience of working with disengaged teenagers is essential.
