About the One-to-One Learning Support Assistant Position

The successful One-to-One Learning Support Assistant will work with a 17-year-old autistic male student going into year 13. He requires an experienced, supportive, and nurturing One-to-One Learning Support Assistant from September 2024. This role is based in Richmond, South West London.


About the pupil and the responsibilities

  • He has a spiky cognitive profile. He has exceptional strengths in certain areas, supported by scores in cognitive ability tests, particularly verbal ability.
  • He requires social and emotional support and struggles with friendships and understanding how to make and maintain them. He is keen to strengthen his peer relationships. He has a few peers with whom he shares interests, and he enjoys interacting with them both at school and, more recently, outside of school.
  • He has a huge passion for literature, science and history.
  • He may have unpredictable outbursts and meltdowns.
  • He has a good sense of humour and is creative.
  • You will be required to scribe as part of this role.
  • You will also be required to utilise assistive technology.
  • You will have access to specialised training as this role will be within a specialist SpLD provision so anyone keen to have access to Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Dyscalculia training should apply!


The ideal One-to-One Learning Support Assistant

  • You will have the passion and purpose to support children with additional needs and will have a nurturing but structured approach.
  • You will have experience working with children with Autism / ASC, Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, DCD, Dyscalculia, ADHD, ADD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH).
  • This SEN Learning Support Assistant will suit a creative and patient Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant who is looking for something different and wants to feel inspired in their role again.
