SEMH English Teacher - Tower Hamlets, London Salary: Up to £38,000 per year Contract Type: Permanent Start Date: September

We are seeking a dynamic and committed English Teacher to join our team at an Independent Secondary School located in Tower Hamlets, London. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire and educate students in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The School: Our school provides a nurturing and engaging educational experience for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and those in a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting. We are dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, including those with SEMH, ADHD, and in a PRU setting.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that promote literacy skills, critical thinking, and creativity.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  • Establish a positive rapport with students, providing pastoral support and guidance when necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement effective strategies for student progress and achievement.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in extracurricular activities and school events.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK, or Unqualified with a Teaching Qualification Considered
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level, preferably within a similar setting.
  • Knowledge of SEMH, ADHD, and PRU educational practices and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A passion for inspiring young learners and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards challenges.
