Why is this SEMH Teaching Assistant role required?

I am working with a SEND school for pupils with SEMH and other associated learning needs. The school are seeking a number of SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their experienced and supportive team.

We are looking for enthusiastic and positive SEMH Teaching Assistants who understand the complexities of working with neurodiverse children aged 11-17 and who have the skills and abilities to positively impact learning in SEND settings. You will need to be robust and resilient in your role and have a genuine desire to offer the best education to children who have learning needs and behavioural disorders.

They will consider those with no experience in this specialist setting, as long as you come with a positive approach and genuine desire to support neurodiverse children, you will be considered!

SEMH Teaching Assistant requirements:

  • A passion for working with SEND is essential!
  • Some relevant SEND experience, even if this is growing up with a sibling or close relative with SEMH or SEN needs such as Autism or ADHD.
  • Experience with and comfortable with challenging behaviour.
  • Resilient and enthusiastic attitude.
