SEN Teacher for Complex Needs and Autism

Position: SEN Teacher

Location: London Borough of Hackney

Start Date: September 2024

Role and Responsibilities

As an SEN Teacher, you will:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of students with complex needs and autism.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff, to provide holistic support to students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods as necessary to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on student progress and development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in SEN education.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children with complex needs and autism.
  • Strong understanding of the autism spectrum and associated educational strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of students with special educational needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
