I am looking for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant as an outstanding position has arisen in the Molesey area.

The Children are at the heart of every decision the school makes, with a focus on ensuring they become confident, curious and happy individuals that can reach their full potential. Its a very caring school where the children are warmly received by everyone and encouraged though out their time with us and to ensure they aim high and engage in all the opportunities that the school offers.

The position involves providing support for a  student who is notably behind in their academic progress, while the other requires assistance in emotional management as the child has been diagnosed with ADHD.

In addition support will also be required for another Year 4 class, as there are two students who need one-on-one support throughout the day. Both of these students have learning difficulties and require help in staying focused and making progress in their learning. One of these students also has an ADHD diagnosis.

 

The Responsibilities of a SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Assist in the educational and social development of pupil(s) under the direction and guidance of the Headteacher, the SENDCo and Class Teachers. 
  • Work with other professional, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, as necessary.
  • Work with individuals and groups of children, under the guidance of the teacher, including children with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with behaviour problems.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Educational Programmes for pupil(s) including teaching aids and learning resources, and help monitor their progress where appropriate.

 

The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Set a good example in terms of dress, punctuality and attendance
  • Good listening skills and enthusiasm to learn.
  •  Accuracy and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to fulfil all spoken, written and comprehension aspects of the role with confidence.
  • May be required to undertake manual handling and physically demanding work.
  •  May be required to undertake first aid qualifications.
