About the School and SEN Teaching Assistant opportunity
This SEN school is based in Merton with easily accessible public transport. The school have an excellent track record of training teachers and teaching assistants and has a wonderful and supportive SLT.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support a secondary age group of children with complex needs. They have Autism / ASD, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Many children at present use minimal verbal language; whilst the child doesn't normally present with challenging behaviour, you will need to be proactive and engaging. The role will be to support the child for the full academic year with a permanent SEN Teaching Assistant contract available for the right individual.
SEN Teaching Assistant requirements
- Passionate about supporting students with SEN
- Able to communicate using Makaton
- Committed to personal development and learning specialist skills
- Proactive and flexible
- Ability to be a team player and build rapport quickly
- Ideally a Graduate or someone with previous SEN experience either formal or informal
