About the Role

1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Support a Remarkable Child on Their Learning Journey 
Location: Kingston
Hours: Full-time, Term-time only
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £90 - £95 per day PAYE (dependent on experience)

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and resilient 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child with Autism, ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including challenging behaviours.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young learner who thrives with consistency, patience, and a positive, nurturing approach.

This pupil needs a resilient and robust SEN Teaching Assistant to support their learning and development at school.

Pupil needs are high presenting, and having an understanding and empathy for students struggling with their mental health is an essential quality for this role. Similarly, to have an appreciation for the ways in which students may express their needs through physically aggressive or verbally abusive behaviour is vital.

About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 support throughout the school day to meet the individual needs of the child

  • Assist with managing transitions, emotional regulation, and learning activities

  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals

  • Implement personalised strategies and support plans

  • Foster independence, self-esteem, and confidence through positive relationships

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs

  • Is calm, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviour

  • Is a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Has a proactive attitude and a willingness to adapt

  • Experience working with students with learning difficulties and complex behaviours

  • Experience working with young people in a residential or SEMH setting

  • Understanding of appropriate boundaries and procedures in schools

  • Passionate about giving all students with opportunity to succeed

  • Ideally holds a relevant TA qualification and/or training in areas like Team Teach, MAPA, or Thrive (desirable but not essential)
