Are you a passionate teacher seeking a rewarding role within a dedicated resource provision for students with additional needs? Do you thrive in an environment where you can make a real difference in the lives of children with Autism and complex communication needs?
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Teacher to lead a class within an ARP (Additionally Resourced Provision) at a mainstream primary school. The class consists of 6-8 pupils, all of whom have been diagnosed with Autism. Some pupils may exhibit challenging behaviour, requiring a confident and skilled teacher to engage them effectively.
The students range from Year 3 to Year 6 but are working at a Key Stage 1 level. One pupil is non-verbal, so experience with communication aids like PECs or core boards is essential.
Managing behaviour will be an important aspect of this role, as some students display emotional and behavioural challenges. The ideal candidate will have experience in positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques. Fortunately, you will have a strong team of three support staff members to assist in managing the classroom environment.
In addition to your teaching duties, you will be responsible for planning and assessing learning progress, tailoring your approach to each child’s specific needs to ensure they achieve their full potential.
What We’re Looking For:
- Confidence in delivering core subjects at an adapted level
- Experience with emotional regulation, positive behaviour management, and de-escalation strategies
- A nurturing, patient, and consistent approach to supporting vulnerable learners
- Familiarity with communication tools like PECs or Core Boards
- Strong relationship-building skills with students who have complex needs
- Prior experience working with disengaged or vulnerable students is essential
