SEND Teaching Assistant
Mainstream Secondary School
£100 Per day

A diverse and vibrant Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and reliable SEND Teaching Assistant to support students in the mainstream school and within their ASD provision, in mainstream lessons and small group interventions. The role involves actively understanding student needs, fostering their independence, assisting teachers with lesson preparation, and contributing to reviews.

Many of these young people have experienced trauma and may have a history of negative experiences with education.
SENCo role
Managing and maintaining EHCPs, including attending meetings and managing annual reviews.
Developing and implementing effective destination planning and access arrangements.
Acting as a key point of contact for local authorities, requiring excellent communication and responsiveness.
Working collaboratively with a dedicated team to support young people who schools cannot typically work with due to their significant and complex needs
A thorough understanding of the statutory framework for SEND and the EHCP process
Proven ability to manage a high workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
A clear understanding of the challenges faced by disadvantaged and hard-to-reach young people with trauma backgrounds
Experience working in PRUs or similar alternative provision settings will be extremely beneficial
Initiative, drive, and the ability to work as a senior leader
A supportive and dedicated team environment.
Access to ongoing training and professional development, including weekly training sessions
Involvement in innovative projects..

Mainstream Primary ARP
A vibrant and welcoming mainstream primary school that is dedicated to inclusive learning, they have a separate ARP that caters for children with ASD and complex needs but the children are still very much involved in mainstream school life.
The ARP is a nurturing environment where the curriculum is designed to meet the needs of pupils through a personalised approach. It focuses on the early communication, social and emotional and cognitive skills, you will be working within the ARP supporting reception aged children with SEND.
SEND Teaching Assistant experience is always beneficial, but please don't think that it is essential for the role , this school will welcome people who want to work with children with SEND, It might be that you have a family member with SEND, or you may have been working in a Nursery setting and you want to transition your skillset.
