We are currently working in partnership with a fantastic SEN school located in Hackney, North East London. The school is looking for a Behaviour Learning Mentor to join their friendly and supportive team. The school provides holistic and therapeutic education to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional needs such as Autism/ASC/ASD and ADHD.

 

Highlights:

  • Behaviour Learning Mentor
  • Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4pm
  • Specialist SEN school for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and Autism/ASC/ASD with associated learning difficulties and expressive behaviour; some pupils will have undiagnosed mental health needs such as severe anxiety and school phobia
  • Providing nurturing, fun, and stimulating sensory-related activities
  • Utilising creative arts into their curricula such as music, arts, drama, and dance
  • Promoting pupils’ wellbeing
  • £95 - £105 PAYE; weekly payment

Ideal Behaviour Learning Mentor:

  • Graduates who studied either Psychology, Criminology, Education Studies or Creative Arts are welcome to apply!
  • Has experience working with children and young people with special needs and/or hard to reach
  • Has personal interests in supporting children and young people with special needs, particularly with Autism, ADHD, and SEMH
  • A positive, proactive, and patient individual who has a can-do attitude and is willing to learn
  • A team player and has great communication skills
  • Being able to build up good working relationships with students and staff

 

Behaviour Learning Mentor’s Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) with associated learning difficulties and expressive behaviour; many have additional needs such as Autism/ASC and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
  • Some pupils may have undiagnosed complex mental health needs such as depression, school phobia, and trauma-related anxieties.
  • Assisting the class teacher with planning, preparing and delivering learning activities as well as monitoring and assessing children’s achievement and progress
  • Actively involved in a wide range of activities, promoting the physical, cognitive, cultural, social and emotional well-being of the pupils
  • Actively interacting with children through play-based and sensory-related activities.

About the Role: Plan, deliver, and adapt engaging lessons that cater to the individual needs of students with SEN, using EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plans) as a guide.
