We are working with a specialist independent school committed to supporting secondary students with diverse needs, including SEMH, ADHD and Trauma with a mission is to build confidence in students and help them overcome barriers to personal development and learning. As a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting pupils' education, advancing their learning, and providing targeted interventions. The role involves collaboration with various staff members, including the SENCo, subject leads, and the pastoral team, to deliver specialized support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To deliver individual and group learning activities to advance pupils’ learning.
  • To conduct small group teaching and one-to-one sessions under the guidance of the SENCo and subject leads.
  • To manage and develop key areas within the school, contributing to policy and system enhancements.
  • To support the planning, delivery, and assessment of subject-specific lessons and interventions when required.
  • To undertake exam invigilation and other administrative tasks as required.
  • To adhere to safeguarding protocols and contribute to the welfare, safety and development of all students.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Experience teaching small groups or individuals.
  • Proven ability to support students with behavioral, emotional, and social difficulties.
  • Strong skills in planning and monitoring the progress of small groups or individual students.

Desirable Skills:

  • HLTA qualification or willingness to train.
  • Knowledge of relevant learning strategies and safeguarding protocols.
  • Competence in tailoring interventions to individual pupil needs.

  • Empathy and understanding of students’ needs.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
